The Burlington area is one of our favorite places, with so much physical beauty and cultural attractions. Here are just some of our favorite spots and activities, and we encourage you to explore if you have the time.

  • Shelburne Museum: Dedicated to American art, history, and design, with over 39 distinct structures on 45 acres.
  • Shelburne Farms: A 1,400 acre working farm, forest, and National Landmark, with landscape design by Frederick Law Olmsted and four prominent buildings by architect Robert H. Robertson. Great for a walk, run, or a visit to the Farm Barn. (We got engaged here on a snowy Christmas morning run! Andy faked a leg cramp and popped the question.)
  • Flynn Center for the Performing Arts: World-class music, theater, Broadway, comedy and more.
  • Mt. Philo: Easy 30 minute-hour hike with views of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain Valley.
  • Burlington Waterfront Greenway: Great for a walk or run, or rent a bike. Stop for a creemee at Burlington Bay Market.
  • Downtown Burlington and car-free Church Street are great places to stroll, shop, and eat. We love Veritá for pizza and Leunig’s for classic cocktails and bistro fare.
  • EB Strong’s: They have a dank burger, as our friend and former Burlingtonian Chris Edmonds would say. It comes with fried pickles and truffle fries.
  • Handy's Lunch: A great place to eat, and a Burlington Landmark.
  • Al's French Frys: Classic American Burger Joint (CABJ). Hand cut frys. A guy on a plane told me about this place. What else do you need to know?
  • Switchback Brewing: Down the street from the worlds tallest filing cabinet, is the Switchback brewery. Try the Connector IPA, or the Blackstrap Ale.
  • Zero Gravity Brewing: Around the corner from the worlds tallest filing cabinet, another brewery!
  • The Spot: Really feeling a west coast vibe here, you might think you are in a gas station, you might think you are in California. You're at The Spot, a little cafe in Burlington, VT.
  • Dakin Farms: If you're coming into Burlington from the south, or heading south out of Burlington you might need to stop for smoked meats. Dakin Farms will take care of you.
